HC Deb 12 March 1980 vol 980 cc594-5W
Mr. David Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if his proposals to make new hospitals smaller will affect either the size or the start this year of phase one of Bournemouth's new 600-bed hospital at Castle Lane.

Sir George Young

Building work at the Castle Lane site is not expected on present plans to start before January 1983. The size of the proposed hospital at Bournemouth will be among the matters considered in the review of hospital schemes currently at an advanced stage of planning that is at present being conducted jointly by health authorities and the Department. I shall let my hon. Friend know the outcome in due course.
