HL Deb 11 March 1980 vol 406 cc1063-5WA
Baroness DAVID

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the numbers of handicapped and non-handicapped children who are paid for by each local authority in England and Wales to attend independent fee-paying schools; and the amount each authority pays in fees for both handicapped and non-handicapped children.

Baroness YOUNG

The table shows the number of handicapped and non-handicapped pupils who, in January 1979, were receiving assistance from local education authorities in England and Wales to attend independent schools. The Government does not prepare figures of expenditure for each local education authority, but analyses of their estimates and expenditure are contained in the education statistics published annually by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, copies of which are available in the Library
