HC Deb 11 March 1980 vol 980 c518W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Energy why the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority has not proceeded with the earlier plans to construct a fuel fabrication plant at Dounreay.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I understand that the authority expects to put proposals to my Department for an advanced fuel fabrication plant at Dounreay after development work now in progress on an improved process is completed.

In considering this project account will need to be taken of the Government's general policies for the fast reactor, which are now under consideration.
