HC Deb 11 March 1980 vol 980 cc550-1W
Mr. Latham

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) pursuant to the Minister of State's replies on 16 November 1979 regarding the Development Land Tax Office (a) what was the actual number of staff in post on 1 January, compared with the authorised ceiling of 174 and (b) what progress is being made in achieving the target of 145 staff on 1 April;

(2) how many staff have left the Development Land Tax Office since 3 May 1979; how many have not been replaced at all.

Mr. Peter Rees

[pursuant to his reply, 10 March 1980]; The number of staff in post in the Development Land Tax Office has been as follows:

1 May 1979 174
1 January 1980 155
3 March 1930 147

It is expected that 143 staff will be in post on 1 April 1980.

Between 1 May 1979 and 3 March 1980, 31 staff left the Development Land Tax Office. Only four were replaced (one senior principal, one principal and two typists) filling vacancies which arose at these levels.
