HL Deb 11 March 1980 vol 406 cc1061-2WA
Lord GARDINER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have completed their consultations on the Report (January 1978) of the Royal Commission on Civil Liability and Compensation for Personal Injury and, if so, when they will publish their conclusions upon it.

The LORD CHANCELLOR

Her Majesty's Government are studying the Royal Commission's recommendations which range so widely over many fields of Government responsibility that they cannot conveniently be dealt with together. Separate consultations have been conducted in respect of the different parts of the report and different stages have been reached in the course of those separate exercises. Her Majesty's Government will therefore not announce their conclusions on the report on a single occasion, but will make their views known on particular subjects as and when they are in a position to do so.
