HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 cc240-1W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements exist for full and regular exchanges between the Food and Drug Administration of the United States, the Committee on Safety of Medicines in the United Kingdom, the World Health Organisation and other international organisations concerned with the use and licensing of drugs; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Vaughan

Members of the professional secretariat of the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) meet on a regular basis representatives of drug regulatory authorities of the other member States of the EEC (about once every two months), of the United States and Canada (twice yearly) and of Scandinavia (annually). They also take part in various meetings on drug regulatory affairs arranged by the World Health Organisation. CSM occasionally itself holds international conferences to consider particular problems.
