asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the Official Report the number of people covered by wages council regulations; and if he will break this figure down into (a) men and women (b) full and part-time workers, giving this information separately for each wages council.

[pursuant to his reply, 29 February 1980]: The estimated number of workers covered by wages council regulations is approximately 2.75 million.

the years since it has been payable; how many claims there were for each year; and what was the average amount paid per claim for each year, respectively.

The maternity pay fund is funded by national insurance contributions paid by employers. Maternity pay is paid by the employer to the employee and the employer then claims rebate from the fund. Details of rebate claims are as follows:
