§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the date on which the application by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority to test bore in the Cheviot Hills was refused; when it appealed against that decision; and what factors are occasioning the delay within his Department in dealing with this appeal through a public inquiry or other mechanism.
§ Mr. FoxThe application, which in fact relates to two sites, was refused on 29 June 1978 and the appeal lodged on 15 December 1978. My Department is in the process of arranging a local inquiry.
