HC Deb 03 March 1980 vol 980 c50W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what was the change in the balance of trade in textiles and clothing with Japan between 1975 and 1979, inclusive; and what were the trade figures both ways for the last quarter of 1979.

Mr. Parkinson

In the last quarter of 1979 imports of textiles and textiles clothing from Japan were valued at £10.8 million cif and exports at £19.1 million fob. The crude surpluses of trade—exports valued fob minus imports cif—and the changes in these were as follows:

of new companies is having on small businesses; and if he will take steps further to encourage the establishment of small businesses.

Mr. Eyre

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave him on 5 February—[Vol. 978, c. 111]—in which I said I was not aware of any recent complaints of delay in registering new companies. The consultative document on company accounting and disclosure—Cmnd 7654—invited suggestions for measures of company law reform to assist smaller companies and put forward proposals for reducing the amount of information which they are required to disclose in accounts and returns under the Companies Acts.
