§ Mr. Wm. Rossasked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) whether he is satisfied that the HOT anti-tank weapon cannot penetrate the frontal armour of the Russian T64 and T72 tanks;
(2) whether he is satisfied that the TOW missile can penetrate the frontal armour of the Russian T64 and T72 tanks.
§ Mr. HayhoeDetails of weapon performance are classified. But as I informed the hon. Member for Walsall, South (Mr. George) on 26 February—[Vol. 979, 53W c. 503]—I am satisfied that TOW has an effective capability against the T64 and T72 tanks. I am not in a position to comment on the performance of HOT, which will not be entering British service.
