HC Deb 24 June 1980 vol 987 cc108-9W
Mr. Rathbone

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what detrimental effects there have been to the schedule of building, commissioning and operating new nuclear power stations because of the lack of a full complement of nuclear installation inspectors; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Norman Lamont

Current staff shortages at the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate have led to some reallocation of resources to ensure that the inspectorate's essential activities, including site inspection and assessment work for new nuclear power stations, are maintained. There have been no detrimental effects to the schedules for new nuclear stations.
