HL Deb 19 June 1980 vol 410 cc1307-8WA
Lord DONALDSON of KINGS-BRIDGE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much money has been made available yearly to Theatre in Education—

  1. (a) through the Arts Council;
  2. (b) through local authorities during the last five years.

Lord MOWBRAY and STOURTON

Separate statistics of expenditure on Theatre in Education are not available. The Arts Council gives grants to drama companies for their overall activities but no longer allocates funds specifically for Theatre in Education work. Local authorities similarly have information on their support of broad categories of arts activities but Theatre in Education expenditure is not separately identified.
