What sites have been offered by what nations for the building of INTOR, the joint East/West/neutral prototype fusion reactor.
The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of EMPLOYMENT (The Earl of Gowrie)Meetings have been held under the auspices of the International Fusion Research Council of the International Atomic Energy Agency with the objective of defining the main parameters of a possible large fusion device to succeed the Tokamak experiments at present under construction. The Soviet Union have indicated to the agency that if a device of this kind (known as the International Tokamak Reactor (INTOR)) were constructed internationally it would be ready to offer a site. Other countries are likely to be interested. However, there is no commitment by any party to construct such a facility nationally or internationally and none is expected in the near future.
