§ Sir Derek Walker-Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will identify by reference to the Town and Country Planning Act and any related legislation, the special arrangements needed to protect the additional 2,500 acres stated to be necessary for the development and expansion of Stansted airport.
§ Mr. FoxThe future of the possible additional area of 2,500 acres at Stansted will have to be considered in the light of the report of the inspector who will conduct the inquiry into the British Airports Authority's proposals for the expansion of the airport. The land concerned could, if appropriate, be formally safeguarded by means of directions restricting the grant of permission made under article 10 of the Town and Country Planning General Development Order 1977; directions requiring consultations before the grant of permission made under article 15; and/or through the inclusion of suitable provisions in the development plans for the area.
