§ Mr. GoodhartThe Northern Ireland Housing Executive house condition survey 1974 revealed that 29,750 dwellings in Belfast were unfit. Over the past five262W years more than £150 million has been spent by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to improve this situation. Preliminary indications from a similar survey to be published later this year show that between 1974 and 1979, as a result of clearance, rebuilding and rehabilitation the number of unfit houses in Belfast has been reduced by over 40 per cent.
