§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Prime Minister if she is satisfied with the coordination between the Inland Revenue and the Department of Health and Social Security over estimates of the number of invalidity pensioners who would be below the tax threshold and are thus penalised by the Social Security (No. 2) Bill; if she will use her influence to produce definitive statistics; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterI am satisfied with the co-ordination between the two Departments. In the absence of information on 179W the additional income of invalidity pensioners it is not possible to produce definitive statistics of those who would pay no tax if the benefit were taxable. The best possible estimates have been made on the information at our disposal.
