HL Deb 03 June 1980 vol 409 c1411WA
Lord WINSTANLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What procedures they have adopted in order to monitor the private medical earnings of full-time National Health Service consultants so as to ensure that these do not exceed the 10 per cent. of salaries permitted by their contracts.

Lord CULLEN of ASHBOURNE

It is part of the terms and conditions of service of whole-time consultants in the National Health Service to certify annually that their gross income from private practice does not exceed 10 per cent. of their gross salary.
