HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 c779W
Mr. Grimond

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what the pay of a museum assistant grade II, now a curatorial officer grade F, was when appointed in February 1979; what his pay was in May, assuming that he continues to hold the same job; and how much of the increase is due to automatic increments.

Mr. Channon

There was no grade of museum assistant II in the old museums structure, but for the grade of research assistant II—now grade F (curatorial)—the information is as follows:

1 February 1979 £3,167*
1 January 1980 £4,200†
1 February 1980 £4,500‡
7 May 1980 £5,340§
* Rate in payment from 1.4.78 (3rd point on the scale—the starting point for most graduate entrants to the grade)
† Final stage of 1979 annual pay increase and implementation of 1975 commitment to improve pay as part of re-organisation. (Both the increase and the commitment were given by the previous Administration).
‡ Annual increment.
§ Annual pay increase 1980. Without the increment this would be £4,900.
