§ Mr. David MitchellExpenditure on damage at common law, losses and compensation recorded by the Department amounted to approximately £5,000 in 1975–76, £1,900 in 1976–77, £8,200 in 1977–78, £1,200 in 1978–79, and £1,900 in 1979–80. More precise information is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The cost of buildings destroyed or damaged is the responsibility of the Department of the Environment.
