HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 c517W
Mr. Woolmer

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what further action his Department will be taking following the rejection by the EEC Commission of the Prato case on grounds of lack of evidence of unfair competition.

Mr. Parkinson

Following the communication from the Commission in January this year to which the hon. Member refers, my Department and the Department of Industry were instrumental in arranging a meeting in Brussels in June between representatives of the Yorkshire and Prato industries, under Commission chairmanship. In a wide-ranging discussion, information on costings was exchanged. This information is now being studied in detail by the two sides. A further meeting is expected later in the year.
