§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the additional cost in real terms in 1980–81 of the increase in grants made by the Department of Health and Social Security to voluntary bodies directly concerned with helping disabled people.
§ Sir George YoungIt is my right hon. Friend's general aim to maintain in real terms the Department's planned total level of expenditure on grants to voluntary organisations. Within this total, some organisations would get real terms increases and some not, depending on such factors as the Department's policy on section 64 grants and its assessment of an organisation's income and expenditure.
Precise figures for 1980–81 are not yet available, but the latest position on grants to date to all voluntary organisations for 553W 1980–81 and actual grants given in 1979–80 are shown in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Aberdeen, South (Mr. Sproat) on 22 July.—[Vol. 989, c. 189–98.]
