§ Mr. Stuart Hollandasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what has been the effective corporation tax paid by the top 25 and top 100 manufacturing companies since 1974 as a proportion of the nominal tax payable;
(2) what was the level of effective corporation tax, namely, the tax actually paid by corporations, as (a) a proportion of the nominal tax and (b) as a proportion of gross domestic product in 1948, 1958, 1968 and 1978;
(3) what proportion of the rebate against corporation tax was represented by (a) investment grants, (b) regional employment premia, (c) depreciation allowances and (d) relief against stock appreciation in the respective years 1968 and 1978.
