HC Deb 22 July 1980 vol 989 c145W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, with reference to his written answer to the hon. Member for Warley, East, Official Report, 14 July, columns 418–9, loans to the Royal Academy of Arts for public exhibition of works of art which have not been covered by Government indemnity could give rise to a ruling by the Commissioners of Inland Revenue that a breach had occurred of the undertaking for the preservation of works of art conditionally exempted from capital transfer tax or estate duty.

Mr. Peter Rees

I shall let the hon. Member have a reply as soon as possible.
