§ Mr. Jim LesterAt 6 June the numbers of notified vacancies remaining unfilled in the Huddersfield employment office area, which covers the southern part of the Kirklees metropolitan district, were 291 at the employment office and 47 at the careers office. Vacancies notified to employment offices are estimated to be about one-third of all vacancies in the country as a whole. Because of possible duplication the figures for employment offices and careers offices should not be added together. My Department is aware of no specific skill shortages in that area.
