asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements exist, whether statutory or otherwise, to prevent private hospitals, clinics or nursing homes making charges to patients for blood supplied free by the National Blood Transfusion Service.

Dr. Vaughan

There are no provisions to prevent such charges, but I should deprecate any being made for blood. It is given by voluntary donors and made available free by the National Blood Transfusion Service.
