§ Dr. BoysonThe consultative document "A Framework for the School Curriculum" issued in January emphasised the importance of the industrial and practical applications of science, particularly at the secondary stage, for pupils of all ability levels. Many of the responses received have made the same point. In the light of the consultations now taking place, further guidance on the curriculum, including the place of science, will be issued later this year. A programme to give schools and colleges a better understanding of the potential applications of microelectronics was announced by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary.
