§ Mr. Brothertonasked the Minister for the Civil Service whether any Government publications are printed outside the United Kingdom; and, if so, what they are and what factors were taken into account before the decision was taken.
§ Mr. ChannonTwo annual publications, "Astronomical Ephemeris" and "Astronomical Almanac", are printed in the United States of America and published jointly by Her Majesty's Stationery Office and the United States Government Printing Office. Under reciprocal arrangements "Planetary and Lunar Co-ordinates" is printed in the United Kingdom and published jointly by Her Majesty's Stationery Office and United States Government Printing Office. These arrangements eliminate duplication of production by the two Governments with consequential savings for both.
Only one other Government publication has been printed outside the United Kingdom during the last three years: a Japanese language edition of the illustrated guide to the Tower of London, for which a Japanese firm offered terms and service that were significantly more favourable than the United Kingdom competition.
