§ Mr. Rostasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps the Government have taken to implement the European Economic Community directive on waste from the titanium dioxide industry.
§ Mr. FoxIn accordance with the requirements of this directive the Government have forwarded to the Commission details of a programme for the reduction of pollution in respect of discharges into the Tees from the titanium dioxide industry. This programme has been agreed both the industry and the Northumbrian water authority. Programmes in respect of similar discharges into the Humber are being prepared and will be forwarded to the Commission when completed.
