§ Mr. Kinnockasked the Lord Privy Seal what were the subsidies paid from public funds in 1979–80 at 1979 survey prices in respect of boarding school allowances for the children of diplomats.
§ Mr. HurdEstimated expenditure on boarding school allowance for the children of Diplomatic Service staff in the financial year 1979–80, at 1979 survey prices was £3,770,000. Actual expenditure was £3,942,988. Of this sum, approximately £640,000 will have been recovered by the Inland Revenue, as the allowance is taxable when paid to staff serving at home.
