§ Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the number of redundancies likely in his Department in Carlisle and Cumbria, respectively, as a result of the implementation of the Government's policy of reducing the number of civil servants.
§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to his reply, 30 June 1980, c. 402]: Plans to implement the reductions in the Inland 681W Revenue and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise required by the Government's policy of reducing the number of civil servants are not yet complete; but the savings will be secured by natural wastage to the greatest possible extent. Neither the Treasury nor the Department for National Savings has offices in Carlisle and Cumbria.
