§ Mr. Jim LesterThe table below gives the latest estimates of the percentage distribution of gross weekly earnings from the new earnings survey. The survey is based on a 1 per cent. sample of employees. Only a very small number of employees will appear in some cells of the table and, because of the response and sampling variation, the total number of employees in particular earnings bands cannot be confidently inferred from the number in the sample. Though the percentages calculated from the sample are shown to one decimal place they should not be taken as representing the total position necessarily to that degree of accuracy.
