HC Deb 22 January 1980 vol 977 c130W
Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of Sate for Employment whether he has now received the ruling of the Commissioners of the European Court about the case of the railwaymen who lost their jobs as a result of closed shop legislation.

Mr. Mayhew

The European Court has not made any ruling on the case of the railwaymen and the closed shop in British Rail. The European Commission of Human Rights has adopted its report on the case and it is understood that this will be sent later this month to the Committee of Ministers and to the Government.
