HC Deb 14 January 1980 vol 976 c579W
24. Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will make a statement on gas reserves.

Mr. Norman Lamont

The latest estimate of gas reserves was published in the Brown Book 1979. Ultimately recoverable reserves on the United Kingdom continental shelf were estimated to lie between 35 and 80 trillion—1012— cubic feet. A planning estimate of 70 trillion cubic feet, including likely imports by pipeline, is used for planning purposes.
