§ Mr. Dubsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider amending the Street Offences Act 1959 to remove the powers of the police to arrest and detain prostitutes without independent witnesses.
§ Mr. WhitelawThe Criminal Law Revision Committee is examining the law on prostitution as part of the review of sexual offences which it is undertaking in consultation with the policy advisory committee on sexual offences. I think it right to await the outcome of this review before considering changes in this area of the law.
