HC Deb 22 February 1980 vol 979 cc390-1W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what study he has made of the industrial shortage of computer operators and allied staff.

Mr. Jim Lester

[pursuant to his reply, 20 February 1980]: I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that a study of the shortage of computer skills was carried out by the training services division in 1978–79. A working party drew on the findings of the study to devise training arrangements to help to ease the widely acknowledged national shortage of computer operators, programmers and system analysts.
