§ Mr. William Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the nature and the reasons for the repairs now being carried out to the exterior of the premises occupied by the Department of Employment and the Department of Inland Revenue at Park Court, Coventry; and what is the cost of the repairs.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe detailing of the exterior of Park Court, Coventry incorporates rows of brick slips which are fixed to the face of beams with epoxy resin. Some of these slips have become dislodged and are creating a hazard to the public. The Property Services Agency has erected scaffolding to protect the public and to provide a working platform from which inspections are currently being undertaken, but no repair work has yet been carried out. The costs incurred to date are estimated at £10,000. Preliminary investigations reveal that the epoxy resin has failed to adhere properly to the structure but the precise cause is yet to be established.
