§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the study conducted in Chester, Leeds and Glasgow into the levels of lead in children's blood; what action he is taking to reduce such levels: and what further studies are being planned.
§ Mr. FoxI refer the hon. Member to my answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Woolwich, West (Mr. Bottomley) on 4 February 1980 concerning the EEC blood-lead survey, of which these studies were a part.—[Vol. 978, c. 33–34.] The report to the Commission of the European Communities summarises the action being taken. A further EEC survey will take place in 1981.
