Increases in the hill livestock compensatory allowances came into effect on 1 January 1980.

As I told my hon. Friend the Member for Flint, West (Sir A. Meyer) on 1 February 1980—[Vol. 977, c. 785–86]—we hope to complete next year a study of the feasibility of extending special help to marginal land below the hill line.
