§ 25. Mr. Newensasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on the position adopted by the United Kingdom in the United Nations, on the issue of the Indonesian invasion of East Timor.
§ Mr. BlakerUnder United Kingdom chairmanship the Security Council approved a resolution of 22 December 1975 upholding the right of the East Timorese to self-determination. We supported a similar resolution on 22 April 1976. With the other members of the European Community we have abstained on subsequent General Assembly resolutions.
