§ Sir George YoungNo. Negotiation of the pay and conditions of service of nursing staff in the National Health Service is the responsibility of the Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council. The management and staff sides of the council agreed to the reference of nurses' and midwives' pay to the Standing Commission on pay comparability in April 1979 and undertook to accept the commission's award.
