§ Mr. Peter Fraserasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish an estimate of (a) the number of local authority, new town and Scottish Special Housing Association houses in Scotland that are specially designed or adapted for physically disabled persons, including the ambulant disabled; (b) the number of local authority, new town and Scottish Special Housing Association houses in Scotland that are specially designed or adapted for physically disabled persons, including the ambulant disabled, which are one of a group of such houses and (c) the number of physically disabled persons, including the ambulant disabled in Scotland who require specially designed or adapted public sector housing.
§ Mr. RifkindAs at 31 March 1979 there were 2,794 local authority, 216 new towns and 67 SSHA houses in Scotland which were specially designed or adapted for physically disabled persons, including the ambulant disabled. It is not possible to identify from central records those houses which are one of a group of such houses. Details of the number of physically disabled persons who require specially designed houses are not available centrally. It is for local authorities in the first place to assess the housing needs of their area, including the needs of the disabled.
