§ Mr. Alexanderasked the Minister of Transport if he will, in order to assist rural areas, identify specifically for rural transport his annual grants to county councils.
§ Mr. FowlerTransport supplementary grant is a block grant, and is, therefore, not broken down into particular components. In announcing the TSG settlement for 1981–82 on 16 December I gave figures for each county showing how much public transport revenue support is included in their total expenditure accepted for grant. Every shire county's bid is accepted in full, except one. However, it is for each county to decide how far it uses its TSG to support rural services.
