HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c270W
Mr. Leighton

asked the Attorney-General if he will refer to the Director of Public Prosecutions the distribution by the Commission of the European Communities in London of a leaflet bearing no mark of origin entitled "Europe and Your Food", with a view to a prosecution for distribution and publication of such a leaflet under the Newspapers, Printers, and Reading Rooms Repeal Act 1869.

The Attorney-General

No. I have had some preliminary inquiries made into this matter and am satisfied that the omission of the necessary details was a genuine mistake. Those responsible have been reminded of the requirements of the law of this country in respect of such publications, and I do not propose to authorise any further action.
