HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c307W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Minister of Transport how many prosecutions have been brought under the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1971, as amended by the Road Vehicle Lighting (Amendment) Regulations 1977, for fitting high level brake lights in the rear windscreen of motor cars; and if he will make a statement on the operation of the legislation.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The fitting of high level brake lights in the rear windscreen of cars does not contravene the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1971 as amended, provided that the lights meet the prescribed standards of performance and installation.
