§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement setting out the central Government contribution to the expenditure of each local education authority including the Inner London Education Authority, in 1980–81; and what will be the equivalent figures in 1981–82.
§ Mr. KingThe major part of central Government support to local authorities is the rate support grant. This grant is paid to local authorities as a general grant in respect of all their services, and not as a specific grant for individual services such as education. Grant will, however, be paid direct to the Inner London Education Authority for the first time in 1981–82, when it is estimated to receive £69.7 million.
