Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food recently announced that140W the maximum retail price of milk throughout the United Kingdom is to be increased by 1 ½p per pint from 4 January. My right hon. Friend and I have decided to increase the maximum wholesale price of milk for liquid consumption in Northern Ireland by 1.276p per litre—approximately 0.725p per pint. This should give producers an additional £650,000 in the period up to the end of the current financial year.
