§ Dr. Glynasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he is taking to ensure that technical and other equipment purchased for the National Health Service is of British manufacture.
§ Dr. VaughanIn August this year I wrote to chairmen of regional health authorities to stress the importance of ensuring that British firms are given every opportunity to compete in selling their equipment to the NHS. The Health36W Service Supply Council fully endorses this view. My hon. Friend and I have since discussed the matter directly with chairmen and they, too, are clearly sympathetic with these aims.
