§ Dr. David Clarkasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the evidence taken and the findings of the public inquiry into the application to drill boreholes in the Cheviots for the purpose of assessing the suitability of the area for the dumping of nuclear waste.
§ Mr. FoxThis inquiry was into a planning application forming part of a research programme to assess the feasibility of disposal of radioactive waste underground. A summary of the evidence, together with the inspector's conclusions and recommendation, will be set out in his report to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State. After considering the report, my right hon. Friend will notify his decision and issue copies of the inspector's report in accordance with the requirements of rule 13 of the Town and Country Planning (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 1974. Copies of the decision letter and of the report will also be sent to any individuals or societies who gave evidence at the inquiry.
