HC Deb 09 December 1980 vol 995 c303W
Mr. George

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the appointees to the committee of inquiry into local government in Scotland represent any particular interests; and, if so, which interests.

Mr. Rifkind

My right hon. Friend appointed the member, of this committee, not as representatives of particular interests, but in anticipation of the individual contribution which he expected they would be able to make, drawing from their varied backgrounds in local government, central Government, industry and academic life.
