§ Mr. Dickensasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many workers in the onshore private sector of the gas industry have been made redundant during the past three years.
§ Mr. Jim Lester[pursuant to his reply, 4 December 1980]: The information requested is not available. I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the number or redundancies so far confirmed as due to occur in the gas industry as a whole between December 1977 and November 1980 is 359. These figures related to redundancies involving 10 or more employees at establishments engaged in the production and distribution of gas.
